Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Bracken Edge Primary School

Dear Parents, Carers and Visitors
I am delighted to welcome you to Bracken Edge Primary School. My name is Mrs Griffiths and I am the Interim Headteacher here until September 2027.

Bracken Edge serves a wide catchment area and is a wonderfully vibrant and diverse school community. We are incredibly fortunate to border directly onto Potternewton Park, a green space that we love to use regularly with our children. Outdoor learning is a real asset of our school, and our pupils absolutely love to play and explore in our woodland areas during breaks and lunchtimes.

Our curriculum is enriched through weekly bushcraft sessions in the woodland, where children develop practical skills, resilience and a deep connection with nature. We are also proud to care for our school animals – our goats and chickens – which provide wonderful opportunities for our children to learn about responsibility, empathy and the natural world.
At the heart of everything we do is developing a sense of belonging and respect for each other. This underpins our entire curriculum and approach to education. We want our children to thrive in an environment where they feel safe and secure, enjoying their learning and developing as confident individuals who are ready for the next stage of their educational journey.

I hope this website gives you a glimpse into the rich and varied life at Bracken Edge and what our school can offer your child. Please do explore further to find out more about our curriculum, our values, and the many opportunities available to our pupils.

If you have any questions or would like to visit us, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We would love to show you around and introduce you to our wonderful school community.

Best wishes
Mrs Griffiths
Interim Headteacher
